Secret Vajra Guardian then said to Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva, “What are the Tathāgata’s mind secrets and the purity of his mental actions? For example, due to certain causes and conditions, the beings of the realms of form are born. Upon their birth, they possess the same wisdom and consciousness, living for eighty-four thousand kalpas. Their consciousness does not circulate, change, and remains fixed in meditation until the end of their lifespan; after their demise, based on the actions they have performed, they are reborn elsewhere. Tranquil Mind! The Tathāgata is similar, from the night he attained Buddhahood to the day of his nirvana, during this period, the Tathāgata’s mind had no doubts, nor did it engage in mental actions. His mind did not think, wander, waver, or attach to things, nor did it scatter. His mind did not lack firmness, did not move, wander, protect, become silent, get lost, become deluded, or pursue truth. It had no darkness, arising, joy, timidity, lingering, proceeding, thoughts, watching, pursuing, stopping, or observed objects. His mind did not flow with consciousness, did not construct itself, nor did it observe others’ minds. The mind did not rely on the eyes, nor on the ears, nose, tongue, body. It did not depend on form, sound, scent, taste, touch. The mind did not cling to phenomena, was neither joyful nor unjoyful. The mind dwelled neither within nor without, did not act upon teachings, nor did it act upon wisdom. The mind did not observe the past, future, or present.”

“The Tathāgata’s sacred mind is pure and sublime. His mind does not create sinful or meritorious karma, and his wisdom faces no obstacles concerning any phenomena. The Tathāgata universally manifests his own pure mind, yet he does not see others’ minds as impure. Though the Tathāgata sees, he does not scrutinize; though he scrutinizes, there are no delusions, no negligence, and though he perceives, there is no frivolous talk. Seeing without seeing is what is truly called seeing. What the Tathāgata sees and hears is not with the flesh eye, nor with the divine eye, the wisdom eye, the dharma eye, nor the Buddha eye; it is not with the divine ear, not corresponding with the knowledge of other minds, not corresponding with the contemplation of residing wisdom, not corresponding with the actions of psychic powers, not relying on flawed wisdom. The Tathāgata has completely eradicated all disturbances, and has no corresponding reactions to any phenomena, yet he faces no obstacles concerning any phenomena. The Tathāgata has no auspiciousness, no various karma, no actions. His wisdom resides like the emptiness, knowing the mental actions of all beings. Such are the Tathāgata’s ten powers, four fearlessnesses, eighteen unique qualities; in operation, there are no karma, mental consciousness does not arise, nor does it depart from the Tathāgata’s samādhi, universally performing all Buddha acts, with no attachment in the unobstructed wisdom of all Buddha-dharma.

“Tranquil Mind! Just as the Tathāgata, the true thusness, manifests another Tathāgata’s form, that manifested Tathāgata has no mental consciousness, no body, speech, or mind, and by the Buddha’s empowerment, it performs all Buddha acts without thought, pursuit, or notion. Tranquil Mind! The Tathāgata is likewise, indistinguishable from the manifested Tathāgata. The thoughts of the manifested Tathāgata are indeed without thoughts, without body, speech, or mind, yet with conditions, all Buddha acts are accomplished. The so-called manifested role does not have true actions. All phenomena are like illusions; the Tathāgata understands this, hence he achieved perfect enlightenment. After achieving perfect enlightenment, his wisdom does not dwell in the five aggregates, not in elements, sense bases, not within, not without, has neither good nor bad, neither worldly nor transcendent, neither flawed nor flawless, has no worldly disputes, does not dwell in cessation nor in non-cessation, not in the past, present, or future, not circling through the three times, not dwelling in conditioned observing, nor in unconditioned non-observing. The Tathāgata’s wisdom is thus, utterly non-abiding. The Tathāgata, the true thusness, in the hearts and minds of all beings, manifests compassionate wisdom, harmlessness, and relief in distress. Tranquil Mind should know this is the Tathāgata’s secret: although in reality not entering, it seems as if entering, what he preaches universally conveys. Furthermore, Tranquil Mind! The Tathāgata’s secrets are immeasurable, the secrets he proclaims have no limits.”

When Secret Vajra Guardian narrated the chapter “The Tathāgata’s Secret,” immense light illuminated the ten directions, and numerous Buddha worlds shook six times. This spectacle was visible in the boundless Buddha lands of the ten directions. Numerous flowers descended from the sky, and musical instruments such as harps played themselves without being strummed. Countless beings developed the mind of supreme enlightenment, innumerable bodhisattvas attained the patience of non-arising, a vast number swiftly gained the patience of meekness, and even doubled bodhisattvas were certified to the rank of only one birth remaining, their merits immeasurable. Due to this cause, all the bodhisattvas from the Buddha lands of the ten directions each practiced pure Brahman conduct in the noble kalpa. These bodhisattvas made Dharma offerings, scattering flowers in tribute, making offerings upward to Secret Vajra Guardian. The flowers they scattered transformed into canopies of flowers, which, by the power of the Buddha, all came to the place where the Buddha and Secret Vajra Guardian were, circling them thrice and covering all the attendees. These precious canopies stayed in the void above, hanging over the Buddha. From the canopies emanated an incredibly beautiful sound: “World-Honored One! The bodhisattvas of the noble kapla have sent us to make offerings to the great sage and Secret Vajra Guardian. Secret Vajra Guardian has declared the Tathāgata’s truly inconceivable secret teachings; these are offerings of the Dharma, all accomplished by the Buddha’s majestic power.”

At that time, all attendees who heard this Dharma felt great joy, clasping their hands and bowing deeply to Secret Vajra Guardian, showing even greater respect and manifesting various transformations, saying, “World-Honored One! We have received great benefit, and boundless joy, having the opportunity to see Secret Vajra Guardian and hear the Tathāgata’s inconceivable secret teachings.” Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva said, “If there are beings who hear the essence of this scripture, joyfully accept it without doubt or hesitation, and embrace the Buddha’s teachings, they have approached Bodhi and should be regarded as non-retreating, surely attaining the supreme true path.”

At this moment, the Buddha praised Secret Vajra Guardian, saying, “Excellent! Excellent! As Tranquil Mind has said. His words are very good.” The Buddha also told Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva, “Great being! The Tathāgata’s merits are extremely rare, possessing four kinds of fearlessness. This scripture, as praised by Secret Vajra Guardian, contains the highest teachings well-spoken. The noble beings who revering the Buddhas and upholding the Dharma, stand dignified and sublime, while hearing this Dharma, they feel no fear or dread, harbor no fear in their hearts, understand the principles within. If they continue to uphold, recite, study, and widely proclaim it to others, they will soon receive the Buddha’s prediction. You should see it this way: they will quickly attain the supreme true path and achieve perfect enlightenment.”

At this moment, in the very center of the assembly, in front of the World-Honored One, the ground suddenly split open, reaching a depth of sixty-eight hundred thousand yojanas, and naturally, drops as large as cartwheels emerged from the earth, rising into the void, reaching up to the realm of Brahmā, and sprinkling across the three thousand great thousand worlds. The Buddha asked Tranquil Mind, “Do you see these great water drops rising into the void, sprinkling across the three thousand great thousand worlds?”

Tranquil Mind answered, “I have seen them. Deva of Devas! May the great sage be compassionate and tell us, what is this auspicious sign and omen?”

The Buddha told Tranquil Mind, “Virtuous one! You should know, the earth has no thoughts, nor a real object that can be split, yet water naturally emerges. Similarly, the masters, if they uphold the essence of this scripture and practice the Buddha’s teachings as instructed above, will break through the sixty-two kinds of heretical views and the net of evil doubts, gaining an incredible eloquence and wisdom. These noble beings, for the sake of sentient beings, well-speak the true Dharma, universally causing all minds to arise in joy. Moreover, Tranquil Mind! Know that this scripture can completely free one from all evils and the sufferings of the three evil paths.”

At that time, the venerable Śāriputra approached the Buddha and said, “Now, in the current auspicious kalpa, all the Bodhisattvas in the worlds of the Buddhas of the ten directions practice pure and sacred conduct. Why do these Bodhisattvas, when they later become Buddhas, have the Secret Vajra Guardians holding vajras and guarding behind them?”

The Buddha replied, “Hold on, Śāriputra! This matter is inconceivable. If the gods and people of the world hear of this, their minds will feel astonished, doubtful, and not have faith to the Bodhisattvas’ practices.”

Śāriputra then said to the Buddha, “If there are those who study Buddhism with deep virtuous roots, they will be able to believe and be willing to accept. We all should accept the Tathāgata’s teachings.” The Buddha asked, “Have you seen the Secret Vajra Guardians serving behind the Buddhas?”

Śāriputra answered, “I have.”

The Buddha said, “This is due to their supernatural powers and the power of their original vows. When the Bodhisattvas become Buddhas in the auspicious kalpa, the Secret Guardians will often protect them, just as they protect me. Śāriputra! The Secret Vajra Guardians will always serve and protect the Bodhisattvas when they become Buddhas in the auspicious era. This is because of their past vows and supernatural powers.”

The Buddha continued, “Śāriputra! If all sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand worlds eventually become Buddhas and attain enlightenment, this Secret Guardian will also hold a vajra and follow behind them to protect. Even with so many changes, this virtuous one’s power of miraculous feet and sacred majesty has never diminished. Śāriputra! Do you now see the Secret Vajra Guardian constantly following and protecting Maitreya Bodhisattva?”

Śāriputra replied, “I have seen it, O World-Honored One! It is only by the holy command of the Buddha that I am able to see. I have never heard of such a thing before.”

The Buddha told Śāriputra, “The Secret Guardian constantly protects Maitreya Bodhisattva, which you cannot see. The Bodhisattvas, Brahmā kings, Indra, and the Four Heavenly Kings from other worlds can see the Secret Vajra Guardian following and protecting Maitreya Bodhisattva. Furthermore, at some point in the future in the auspicious kalpa, Maitreya Bodhisattva and other Bodhisattvas will manifest hundreds of billions of Bodhisattva assemblies, and the Secret Vajra Guardian will follow and protect them, aiding in the propagation of the holy teachings through their vow power. This virtuous one, with his inconceivable power of miraculous transformations, is so exalted, possessing the six supernatural powers, wisdom power, and numerous virtues, and is immeasurable.”

At that moment, Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva said to Secret Vajra Guardian, “Virtuous one! Could you please condescend to tell us about the Tathāgata’s ascetic practices, how he subdued the demon armies under the Bodhi tree, turned the wheel of Dharma, and adorned the Buddha-lands? I hope you can explain these matters in detail.” 

The Secret Vajra Guardian replied to Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva, “The virtues of the Tathāgata are immeasurable, even if someone’s lifespan were to last a kalpa, praising the supreme virtues of the Buddha in such a long time would still not suffice to fully describe them. Now, by the power of the Buddha’s majesty, I only roughly outline some key points.” He then continued, “Tranquil Mind! The ascetic practices of the Bodhisattva are not a fixed form; the Bodhisattva only manifests these actions to subdue the demons and heretics, and to aid those in distress. Depending on the circumstances, the Bodhisattva adapts to the actions of heretics and all other dignified aspects solely to overcome the demons and heretics, allowing the Bodhisattva to demonstrate the most supreme and transcendent states, surpassing all the heretics’ prohibitions, practices, and difficult deeds. Those deeds that the heretics cannot accomplish, the Bodhisattva can manifest one by one, thus surpassing them. In those places, through a single scripture, the Bodhisattva can explain limitless meanings; sometimes appearing above, sometimes manifesting the sun and the moon circling back and forth, sometimes showing powers of flight or dwelling in hermitages, sometimes appearing as scholars, national advisors, laypersons, sometimes as elders, holy emperors, Four Heavenly Kings, sometimes as Indra, Brahma, a Wheel-turning Sage King, sometimes showing his own imperfect actions, sometimes lying on thorns, sometimes on broken wheat straw, sometimes on the ground, sometimes appearing fearful when lying down, sometimes fearless, sometimes showing where he lies down, sometimes sitting and eating fruits, sometimes wearing tattered clothes, sometimes lying on foam, sometimes wearing ochre robes, sometimes appearing naked among people, sometimes with ordinary food, sometimes with coarse food, sometimes eating beans, grains, hemp rice, sometimes eating radishes, taro, rutabagas, sometimes only having vegetables for dinner, sometimes eating thorns, sometimes consuming tree leaves, flowers, fruits, sometimes eating dates, sometimes only eating once a day, sometimes once every two days, sometimes eating regularly, sometimes once every seven days, once every fifteen days, sometimes once a month, sometimes only consuming a drop of ghee, sometimes only a drop of oil, sometimes only a drop of honey, sometimes only a drop of water, sometimes only a drop of milk, sometimes appearing not to eat at all, sometimes constantly standing, sometimes constantly sitting. Tranquil Mind! Such and countless other dignified rituals are the ascetic practices manifested by the Bodhisattva. The Bodhisattva’s demonstration of arduous behavior lasted for six years, not just a single dignified ritual, but manifested in various forms. Through such steadfast diligent practice, the Bodhisattva surpassed the practices of heretics. Moreover, many beings cannot see or understand the various dignified rituals of the Tathāgata or the actions of the Bodhisattva. If there are beings who can practice the right path according to the Bodhisattva’s actions, movements, comings, goings, and dignified rituals, they will thus be enlightened, reach liberation. If beings see the dignified rituals of the Bodhisattva, see the Bodhisattva practice in such a way, their minds will not generate delusions. While practicing asceticism, the Bodhisattva performed subtle karma, enlightening six hundred million sextillion people and three million celestial beings, maturing their good roots. There were also celestial beings, with great faith and virtuous deeds, who saw the Bodhisattva manifesting his birth on the lofty dais of the precious school without various adversities, always obtaining stability, with constant concentration, yet instead demonstrated six years of ascetic practice. They also saw the Bodhisattva rise from meditation after the end of his ascetic practice. At that time, the gods pursued the joy of the Dharma, if there are beings who aspire to the scriptures, do not desire the mundane, and wish to follow the Bodhisattva. The Bodhisattva knew, ‘To mature their minds of enlightenment, I should preach the Dharma.’ Thus, the Bodhisattva proclaimed this Dharma gate, called ‘Great Wisdom Accumulation, Great Compassion Skillful Means, Entry into the Inconceivable Profound Truth,’ also known as ‘Universally Subduing All Demonic Heretics, Entering Ascetic Practice for Wisdom Purification.’”

Secret Vajra Guardian said to Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva, “After six years of ascetic practice, the Bodhisattva has demonstrated diligent majesty. Rising from his seat, the Bodhisattva went to the bank of the Nairañjanā River, conforming to the preferences of worldly beings, arrived at the riverbank, cleansed his body, crossed the river, and stood at another place. There was a Mekā girl named Auspicious Shadow who tended a thousand cows. She fed the milk of the first cow to the second, and from the second to the third, and so on, until the milk of the last cow was used to cook a milk porridge. The porridge boiled in the pot, leaping dozens of feet high. The woman, finding this strange, consulted a Brahmin for divination and learned that this food was meant to be consumed by one who was about to become a Buddha. Hence, the girl brought the milk porridge to where the Bodhisattva was, and at the same time, sixty thousand deities, nāgas, spirits, and gandharvas, each carrying peculiarly delicious food, came before the Bodhisattva, each requesting, ‘May you compassionately accept our offerings.’ At that moment, the Bodhisattva accepted the milk porridge from Mekā and also the food offered by the sixty thousand deities, nāgas, spirits, and gandharvas, showing that he ate all of it. All the donors only saw the Bodhisattva accepting their offerings and were unaware of the others; each thought, ‘The Bodhisattva accepts only my offering; he will surely attain Supreme Perfect Enlightenment.’ Thus, they felt joy, generated the roots of Supreme Perfect Enlightenment, and immediately attained an unshakable state. This is how the Bodhisattva accepted offerings, enlightened beings, and demonstrated six years of diligent ascetic practice.”

Secret Vajra Guardian continued to Tranquil Mind, “The Bodhisattva, in accordance with worldly customs, accepted offerings and ate to replenish his strength and comfort. When the Bodhisattva approached the tree, a local deity named Auspicious Earth told the celestial beings and other deities dwelling on the ground, ‘Keep the ground stable, do not shake, cut off all desires and attachments, for the Bodhisattva has come under the king of trees.’ Consequently, the celestial beings gloriously purified the ground, arranged it in order, making the three thousand worlds naturally pure, scattering flowers, burning incense, sprinkling scented water. A deity named Karipada descended from the celestial palace, stopped in mid-air, saw the Bodhisattva, and joyously scattered various flowers. The Four Heavenly Kings and their families came from the four directions, covering the three thousand Buddha-lands with purple-golden nets as offerings to the Buddha. Indra and Brahmā manifested great miraculous powers, gloriously praising the three thousand worlds. The Trāyastriṃśa and Yāma deities respectively adorned with purple-golden canopies and covered the three thousand great thousand Buddha-lands with deep blue glass canopies as offerings. The Tuṣita deities used jewel-adorned canopy tents to make offerings to the Tathāgata, appearing majestic and solemn. The heavenly Kings, beautifully like purple-gold, greatly delighted in their hearts, scattered pearls, offering them to the Tathāgata. The King of Joy Emanation Heaven used moon beads and brightly shining white silver jade tents, played harmonious music, spreading in all directions, bringing joy to the three thousand worlds. Even the celestial pure treasures, immense in majestic power, were immaculately clear. Beings of Joy Creation from Others’ Joys Heaven manefested a tent composed of all treasures, extensively serving the Buddha. The deities, nāgas, spirits, asuras, garuḍas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, each with their own supernatural holy power, displayed majesty, decorating all the desire realms.”

Secret Guardian told Tranquil Mind, “At that time, there was a great Brahmā King named Divine Sovereign, who ruled over the three thousand worlds, immensely revered and boundless. When the Bodhisattva was heading towards the Bodhi Tree, this Brahmā King addressed the Brahmās, saying, ‘Venerable ones, you should know that this great Bodhisattva, in the presence of past Buddhas, practiced the right conduct, widely planted seeds of virtue, reverently worshipped countless Buddhas. His grand vows are steadfast and unmovable, his will strong, never tiring, capable of perfectly accomplishing the Bodhisattva practices, practicing all paramitas, well-abiding in the other shore, skillfully free in all Bodhisattva grounds, all Bodhisattvas’ intentions are pure, fully understanding all sentient beings’ diverse natures, comprehending the secrets of all Tathāgatas, transcending all demonic paths of karma. He has an indestructible faith in all good roots, endorsed by the majestic power of all Buddhas, becoming a great guide, saving sentient beings, proclaiming the scriptures. He is the foremost valiant one in the three thousand great thousand worlds, surpassing the demonic realms, forever free from demonic karma, universally manifesting the true path of liberation for all sentient beings. The Bodhisattva is the great king of medicine, curing the ailments of beings; the Bodhisattva is the great king of Dharma, wearing the crown of liberation, radiating the light of wisdom. He is an incomparable holy emperor. He is not bound by the eight mundane practices, like a lotus untouched by the dust and water, always mindful of all dharmas, his wisdom as vast as rivers and seas, as immovable as Mount Meru. His mind is pure, like water washing away filth; he never boasts, always practices humility. Like the moon pearl dispelling darkness and murkiness, he is at ease in all dharmas. He widely plants virtuous roots, just like Brahmā is the foremost in the heavens. The Bodhisattva will go beneath the tree, subdue all demons, attain the supreme true path, become the perfectly enlightened one, equipped with the Buddha’s ten powers, four fearlessnesses, eighteen unique qualities, turn the great Dharma wheel, emit the lion’s roar, filling all, extensively practicing the Dharma giving to all beings. He will purify the Dharma eye of beings, subdue the ninety-six erroneous practices of heretics with the true Dharma, to fulfill the vows of the past, see the ten directions of the Buddhas, freely journey with great holy virtue, fulfill all paramitas, and cross to the other shore. Venerable ones, you should always respectfully humble yourselves before all Bodhisattvas.’ Thus, Brahmā Sovereign spoke this verse before the deities:

“With the pure and correct practice, he will definitely accomplish the subtle Dharma,

felt pity for the beings of the world and compassion extending to all beings of the heavens.

He is the deva of devas, the most honored among devas and men; this great holy one now goes toward the Bodhi tree,

where he should subdue Māra and his retinue, attain right enlightenment, and accomplish the wisdom that knows all.

Having already brought to perfection joy and the work of the most correct awakening, he will immediately set in motion the Wheel of the True Dharma.

His great wisdom is boundless, issuing forth the lion’s roar of the great master, able to gladden the hearts of all beings.

Because of his purity, he attains the subtle Dharma-eye; this teacher now proceeds toward the Bodhi tree.

He will subdue and abandon all the hosts of Māra, annihilate the heterodox and the followers of outside paths,

and bring to complete fulfillment the vows made in the past.

His Dharma-body of right enlightenment, in what it sees and what it does, will never tire.

At that time, the teacher proceeds to the place where a Buddha should abide. Excellent indeed! All beings gather together in harmony.

The great earth of the three-thousandfold great-thousand world should be well adorned.

Thus should the Desire Realm, the Form Realm, and the Formless Realm all be adorned in such splendor.

Excellent indeed! The mind of Brahmā is kind and good, and all within the three-thousandfold great-thousand world is made adorned and pure.

In adorning so purely and beautifully the Desire Realm, the offerings that appear will surpass even those just spoken of.

Precious fragrant woods, candana, and many flowers, the radiance of jewels shining forth, and the playing of all kinds of music.

Whoever sees them will without exception rejoice and be glad.

The Brahmā King pervades the three-thousandfold great-thousand world, and from the Brahmā Heaven to the Akanīṣṭha Heaven,

every tier of heaven is equally upright and pure.

In the sky they are sacred and honored, and yet more honored still.

The deva of devas, pure and yet more pure. Six billion quin­vigintillion devas come together in assembly, to adorn the adamantine site for the Bodhisattva.

They scatter heavenly flowers, sending down offering like a rain, sprinkle the ground with fragrant water of various perfumes,

arrange wondrous couches and seats made of various precious treasures, and adorn and purify it so that the Bodhisattva may sit in peace beneath the Bodhi tree.

We, with various praises, extol this teacher, harmoniously attending to his seat, making its surroundings pure.”

At that time, Secret Vajra Guardian spoke to Tranquil Mind Bodhisattva, saying, “Then, the Bodhisattva proceeded to sit beneath the tree, and the soles of his feet manifested the thousand-spoked wheel sign, emitting a light. This light illuminated the entire Buddha-land, reaching everywhere; it momentarily alleviated the suffering of all beings, including those in hell, animals, and hungry ghosts. Furthermore, a great light brightened the Black Ear Hell, and at that time, due to the illumination from the World-Honored One, Black Ear Hell was joyful and lively, and beings gathered in throngs. At that time, the heavens all sang verses, saying:

“The radiant purple-gold light emanates from between the eyebrows of the World-Honored One,

the deva of devas, shining upon us and filling our hearts with joy. 

I have seen auspicious signs in the past at the places of Buddhas, identical to what I see now.

The Buddha, the great heroic one, is undoubtedly about to appear. 

How splendid! Each of you holds variously decorated garlands, fragrant flowers, and perfumed ointments,

purple gold and bright pearls, holding robes in your right hands, playing wonderful music, erecting large banners,

and covering with colorful flags, making offerings to the World-Honored One. 

Those in hell, receiving the cleansing illumination of this light,

use it to venerate the Buddha, serving the great saint.”

At that time, within the great Black Ear Hell, the King of Hell and his retinue, along with all the assembled beings, each holding fragrant flowers, mixed incense, marsh incense, garments, banners, streamers, and musical instruments, emerged from their palaces, ascended into the sky, transformed into precious clouds, and descended with moon pearls, renowned incense, wooden coffers, sandalwood, fragrant flowers, and pearls. They exercised great supernatural powers to perform feats of transformation, arriving at the place where the Bodhisattva was, paying homage at the feet of the Bodhisattva, circumambulating three times to the right, along with their families, each using the offering utensils they held, presenting them to the Bodhisattva, and performing music. They used the following verses to praise the World-Honored One:

“In a jeweled land, majestic and resplendent,
where the Bodhi tree stands laden with flowers and fruit within the sacred site.

Rivers cease their flow into stillness, the moon stays in the void.

The Bodhisattva attains enlightenment, becoming the supreme conqueror of demons in the world.

The World-Honored One’s manifold radiance shines forth like the blazing sun, while the bee-king hums in harmony,

proclaiming His luminous wisdom like Brahma and the Asuras.

Today, abundant auspicious signs appear everywhere, permeating all realms; the light of Brahma and Indra,

even the brilliance of sun and moon, are eclipsed by the Buddha’s radiance.

As this light illuminates my palace, I know the Buddha has appeared in the world, revealing auspicious signs.

My heart fills with joy, knowing the Buddha is now present.

I witnessed Krakucchanda Buddha, Kanakamuni Buddha,

and Kasyapa Buddha approach the Bodhi tree and made offerings to them all.

Today’s auspicious signs mirror those of that time; my heart overflows with delight and bliss, certain that a Buddha now appears.

O World-Honored One! By supreme conditions, I have made extensive offerings to many Buddhas,

presenting faith and reverence through the four illuminations of the worlds.

All accumulated merit and blessings I now dedicate fully to the Eye of Insight for the world.

This is the world’s illuminating light, unparalleled in enlightenment.”
